Do I really have to convince you to try this recipe? Who doesn't absolutely love a messy, juicy IN&OUT burger?? I came up with this recipe one day when Sean and I were craving IN&OUT but unfortunately the closest location is 20 minutes away..so I decided to try to create it at home, adding my own twist to it! Now it is one of our favorite burger recipes! Hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do!!
1 cup mayo
1/2 cup ketchup
4 tbsp sweet pickle relish
2 tsp white vinegar
4 tbsp vegetable oil
1 lb. ground beef, formed into 6 patties
1 medium yellow onion, very thinly sliced
Salt and Pepper, to taste
6 slices american cheese
8 sesame seed hamburger buns
2 cups shredded lettuce
Lays Classic Potato Chips
* This recipe makes 3 double doubles or 6 regular burgers
In a medium bowl, combine mayo, ketchup, relish, and vinegar. Mix throughly until combined. Set aside.
Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
Add 3 of the patties to the pan, salt and pepper the top of them. Then, using a spatula press down on the patties until they become very thin.
Top each patty with some of the onions, cook for 1-2 minutes.
Flip burgers, Press down on them again, flattening the patties even further.
Place a slice of cheese on each patty and allow to melt.
Transfer patties to a plate and cover with tinfoil.
Take a bottom of a bun and smother with the animal sauce, then place one patty on top of the sauce.
Take another bottom bun and top on top of the patty, spread more sauce on that bun, then top it with another patty.
Crumble Potato chips on top patty
Add shredded lettuce over the potato chip layer
Take a Top bun and smother it with sauce and place on top of the lettuce layer
And..there you have it! A double cheeseburger animal style!!
